Guests without warning

Hey, it’s J.
There’s a special kind of panic that happens when someone texts “We’re nearby, mind if we stop by?”
And you’ve got… three carrots and a half-used hummus in the fridge.

Here’s my go-to move when surprise guests pop up:

  • Cheese board (even if it’s not fancy)
Slice whatever cheese you have, add crackers, olives, a fruit (grapes, apple, whatever’s not squishy). It looks intentional, even if it’s not.
  • Oven magic
Tortillas + shredded cheese = mini quesadillas in 5 minutes. Bonus if you add salsa.
  • Mood over menu
Light a candle, put on music, pour something bubbly — even sparkling water in a wine glass. It’s the vibe that counts.

You don’t need a feast to make people feel welcome.
Just warmth. And maybe a bowl of olives.
