Balancing Mom and Woman
Hey, it’s J.
Let’s talk about something that doesn’t get enough space: you, outside of being a mom.
Yes, motherhood is a big, beautiful part of who you are — but it’s not all of who you are.
You’re still a woman. A person with dreams, wants, needs… and the right to be more than just “mama.”
Here’s the challenge
Once you become a mom, it’s like the rest of you gets a little blurry.
- The books you loved? Forgotten.
- That hobby you enjoyed? Who has time?
- Alone time? Rare and usually interrupted.
But you deserve to exist as a full person.
Finding the balance (even if it’s not 50/50)
Balance doesn’t mean equal time — it means intentional time. A few ideas:
- Claim 15 minutes in the morning just for you
- Let your partner or family take over for a night, guilt-free
- Say yes to the things that refill you, and no to the things that don’t
Even something small — a walk, a playlist, lipstick you like — can remind you that you’re still you.
The truth?
Your kids don’t need a perfect mom.
They need a mom who feels whole.
And when you nurture yourself, you’re showing them what self-love looks like.
So no, it’s not selfish.
It’s strength.
It’s showing up for you, too.
